About this specimen

Pale violet fluorite cubes climb this small Yaogangxian piece in offset steps, glassy along the upper edges and deepening to a stronger purple where the crystal walls thicken. Across the middle sits a rough olive-green crust of epidote; below it the fluorite turns smoky and near-opaque as it meets the rock.

The epidote lies on and between the fluorite crystals as a coating rather than as material trapped inside them — a surface guest, not a passenger. Yaogangxian, a tungsten mine in southern Hunan, is a locality collectors buy by name, and fluorite of exactly this pale violet cast is part of the reason. Fluorite is CaF2, Mohs 4, with perfect octahedral cleavage: keep it clear of harder specimens and well away from ultrasonic cleaners.

Small at 5.8 × 3.6 × 2.0 cm and 50 g, it comes fixed with putty to the clear acrylic block seen in the images. The specimen in the photographs is the one that ships, base included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
