About this specimen
Hematite crystals offer a unique luster that captivates gem enthusiasts and collectors alike. Mined from the renowned region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, these stunning specimens are a prized addition to any collection. Discover the allure and brilliance of hematite's natural beauty.
This specimen features elongated, metallic gray to black crystals exhibiting the typical trigonal crystal system of hematite (Fe2O3). Its surface displays a highly reflective, metallic luster that enhances its visual appeal. The crystals are opaque, with sharp, well-defined edges and a smooth, almost mirror-like finish, characteristic of quality hematite formations from this locality.
Minas Gerais is a prolific mineral-producing region known for its diverse and high-quality mineral specimens. Hematite from this area is valued for its distinctive crystal habits and excellent preservation, making it a sought-after choice for collectors. This piece’s elongated crystal form and lustrous surface contribute to its display quality and collector interest.
With a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6.5, hematite is relatively durable but should still be handled with care to avoid scratches and damage to its reflective surface. To maintain its natural shine, gently clean the specimen with a soft cloth and avoid exposure to harsh chemicals or prolonged moisture.
