About this specimen
Dark, reflective mineral blades gather into rounded fan-like groups across the upper part of this specimen. Fine parallel lines give the fans a fibrous-looking surface, and the reflections change sharply across their curved outlines. Smaller pale and gray crystals occupy the base beneath them.
The specular hematite aggregates dominate the composition above the smaller pale quartz crystals. Several adjoining fans create a low, broad profile, with the dark reflective growth rising above a rough, mixed-texture foundation.
