베라크루스 자수정에는 다른 어떤 산지도 되풀이하지 못하는 모습이 있습니다. 길고 가느다란 유리질 기둥이 끝부분에서 정확히 보라색으로 짙어지는 것입니다. 멕시코 베라크루스주 피에드라 파라다에서 나온 이 결정군은 그런 결정들이 부채꼴로 가득 모여 있으며, 가장 키가 큰 것은 강렬한 보라색 관을 쓴 채 반짝이는 회색 모암에서 솟아오르고, 그 아래로는 더 옅은 라벤더색 결정들이 낮은 각도로 가로지릅니다.
이 산지의 결정은 섬세하기로 유명해서, 채취와 운송을 거치고도 선단을 온전히 지킨 결정군은 예외에 속합니다. 14.5 × 8.1 × 6.1 cm에 248 g인 이 표본은 베라크루스 산출품 가운데 상당한 크기의 예입니다.
