이 표본에 대하여
한 칸 오르고 어긋나고 다시 오릅니다. 투명한 형석 정육면체들이 이 베이징 결정군을 모서리에서 모서리로 타고 올라가며, 테두리는 밀짚처럼 옅고 두세 개가 겹치는 곳에서는 따뜻한 꿀빛으로 짙어집니다. 각 면은 빛을 되비칠 만큼 밝고 뒤에 놓인 정육면체가 비쳐 보일 만큼 맑습니다. 여러 내부 성장면을 따라 희미한 광물 실오라기와 녹슨 빛깔의 막이 갇혀 있으며, 결정군 전체는 같은 황금빛의 작은 결정들이 박힌 거친 철갈색 모암 위에 얹혀 있습니다.
이 표본에 유리처럼 깨끗한 부분은 없습니다. 여러 정육면체의 중심에는 옅은 성장 구름이 자리하고, 결정끼리 맞물려 자란 자리에서는 모서리가 계단지거나 이가 빠져 있습니다. 형석은 CaF2이고 등축정계이며 모스 경도 4입니다. 완전한 팔면체 벽개를 지니므로 모서리에 충격이 가해지면 조각이 떨어지기보다 깔끔한 삼각형 박편이 떨어져 나갑니다. 형석 중에는 자외선에서 형광을 내는 것도 있고 그렇지 않은 것도 있으니, 이 표본은 짐작하기보다 직접 시험해 볼 만합니다.
전체 크기는 5.8 × 5.6 × 3.5 cm, 무게는 109 g이며, 모암 아랫면이 평평해 선반 위에 그대로 놓입니다. 있는 그대로 촬영했으며, 보시는 결정군이 곧 받으실 결정군입니다.
