About Dexing Mine
Dexing Copper Mine in Jiangxi Province is one of China’s largest open-pit porphyry copper-molybdenum-gold mines and a globally significant collector locality for chalcopyrite, sphalerite, bornite, and molybdenite. Mining has been continuous since the 1950s with reserves exceeding 9 million tonnes of contained copper.
Geology & Signature Specimens
Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite porphyry intrusions of Late Yanshanian age. Collector specimens favor iridescent chalcopyrite plates, dark gemmy sphalerite crystals, and rare bornite-pyrite-quartz combinations. Calcite and fluorite occur as gangue.
