About this specimen
Bright electric-blue allophane in glassy botryoidal bubbles sits on a base of pale blue-white gibbsite crust, with one intense blue knob standing up at the top right. The blue is as saturated as chrysocolla but glassier.
Guizhou allophane-gibbsite is a rare species pairing and the blue is exceptional; an 8 g micro-mount that must be kept dry, since allophane can crack as it dehydrates.
It measures 4 × 3.2 × 2.1 cm (1.57 × 1.26 × 0.83 in) and weighs 8 g (0.3 oz), a miniature-sized piece that fits a miniature cabinet or a desk display. Sold as photographed, with any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note disclosed in this listing; colour is as true to hand as the photos allow.
