About this specimen
Guangdong caramel quartz at 2.7 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. A quartz crystal in warm amber-caramel, the colour sitting in the outer skin so the point reads deep gold at its edges and paler through the middle.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities.
Guangdong's Jinlong district is known for hematoid and chlorite-phantom quartz with specular hematite, alongside fluorite and calcite.
