About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine with mica at 11.4 cm and over 500 g per the supplier; a cabinet plate.

Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.

Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.

Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.

By size it is cabinet, 11.4 × 10.9 × 5.3 cm (4.49 × 4.29 × 2.09 in) and 500 g (17.6 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
