About this specimen

Chalk-white blades open outward from a single root, each one dulled by a sugary micro-crust so that the whole group reads matte — except where a clear, glassy blade shows through from behind and catches the light. Smudges of dark grey-green cling to two or three faces, the only colour in an otherwise snow-bright piece.

Aragonite carries the same chemistry as calcite, CaCO3, but assembles it in the orthorhombic system, and it habitually twins three individuals together until the result looks deceptively six-sided. The frosting on this Guizhou group is a later generation of minute aragonite needles grown over the earlier blades, which is what turns a transparent mineral opaque. Mohs 3.5 to 4 and brittle at the tips: dust it with air, never with a cloth.

It measures 4.6 × 4.1 × 3.6 cm and weighs only 45 g, and it comes on the clear acrylic block seen in the photographs, which lifts the sprays clear of the shelf. The block is included, and nothing on this page stands in for the piece you will unwrap.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
