About this specimen
Black cassiterite forms a compact cluster of intersecting faces, with strong linear surface markings visible on several crystals. A pale silvery mica patch occupies one side, introducing a finer, layered texture beside the darker blocks. Small white reflections emphasize the edges of the dark growth.
The main cassiterite group projects outward and has an uneven outline rather than a single symmetrical crystal shape. The mica is concentrated along one side of the black cassiterite group.
Locality: Xuebaoding, China. Weight: 80 g (2.82 oz). Dimensions: 4 × 3 × 3 cm (40 × 30 × 30 mm; 1.57 × 1.18 × 1.18 in).
