About this specimen
Yunnan double-terminated quartz at 3.3 cm and 4.9 g; a miniature. A pale double-terminated quartz with an orange iron cap and flowered sceptre tips, the capped Shanling quartz the supplier names, both tips complete as the supplier notes.
Double-terminated quartz grew free of the wall, so both ends carry natural terminations.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
By size it is miniature, 1 × 0.9 × 3.3 cm (0.39 × 0.35 × 1.30 in) and 4.9 g (0.2 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
