About this specimen
Guangdong caramel quartz at 2.4 cm; a thumbnail, supplied in the display box shown. A quartz crystal in a warm caramel brown, transparent through the body with darker mineral flecks suspended inside and a clean pointed termination at the top.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Guangdong's Jinlong district is known for hematoid and chlorite-phantom quartz with specular hematite, alongside fluorite and calcite.
