About this specimen

Two honey-gold crystals have grown into one another here, the smaller riding the shoulder of the larger. Both are translucent to nearly transparent, and their broad faces are ruled with fine parallel striations that split the surface into stripes of pale champagne and warm amber. Beneath them lies a thin ledge of olive-yellow druse resting on a violet-tinged crust — the last remnant of the pocket the pair grew in.

Calcite (CaCO3) runs through more crystal forms than almost any other species, and Fujian pockets tend to give it these broad, blunt, heavily striated faces rather than the sharp scalenohedral points collectors expect. Mohs 3, with perfect rhombohedral cleavage in three directions: a knock on an exposed edge can pop a clean flat plane away, so lift the specimen by its matrix.

Compact at 4.1 × 3.8 × 2.5 cm and 35 g, it shows best tilted slightly forward so the striations catch a raking light. These photographs were taken of the specimen in hand, and it is the one that will arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Calcite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
