About this specimen

A single lemon-yellow calcite does all the work on this Daye piece. It lies in a shallow trough of grey-green rock as though set into a socket, faces glassy and slightly stepped, the colour deepening from pale citron at the margins to warm olive-gold where the crystal is thickest. Around it the matrix carries tiny white quartz points and scattered rusty flecks.

Calcite is CaCO3, trigonal, Mohs 3, with perfect rhombohedral cleavage — a soft mineral that dislikes vinegar, ultrasonic cleaners and contact with harder specimens. Its transparency is also the classroom demonstration of double refraction: a clear cleavage fragment laid over a printed line shows two lines instead of one.

The specimen is 5.0 × 4.0 × 4.0 cm and 95 g, a comfortable one-hand miniature. Every photograph here is of this calcite and nothing else.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Calcite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
