About this specimen
A broad, fan-shaped rose of white calcite blades, each blade thin and translucent at the edge, spreading across the top of the piece with green fluorite showing at the lower right corner. The photos show its response under UV.
Hunan rose calcite at 18 cm and over 900 g; the bladed fan reads well from a distance and the fluorite gives the base a touch of colour. Calcite: never clean with acid.
It measures 18 × 8.8 × 8.1 cm (7.09 × 3.46 × 3.19 in) and weighs 933 g (32.9 oz), a large cabinet-sized piece that is a statement piece for a display case or mantel. What you see in the photos is the piece you receive; any known repair, mount or treatment is disclosed above.
