About this specimen
Long, nearly colorless calcite crystals cross above a small pale base. One broad crystal projects to the left, balanced by shorter upright points on the opposite side. Quartz and fluorite are recorded in the association. The ordinary-light photograph makes the internal bands and clear edges easier to distinguish, while the ultraviolet view gives the crystals a strong pink appearance. Compare both views to appreciate the open geometry as well as the lighting-dependent color. Dimensions: 4 × 1.5 × 2.6 cm / 40 × 15 × 26 mm / 1.57 × 0.59 × 1.02 inch. Estimated weight: 12 g / 0.42 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
