About this specimen
Sichuan epidote quartz at 7.9 cm and 66 g; a small cabinet floater. A clear quartz crystal with a green epidote cluster enclosed inside, complete and grown free as the supplier notes.
Epidote's deep pistachio to olive green and striated prism faces separate it from prehnite.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 2.7 × 1.9 × 7.9 cm (1.06 × 0.75 × 3.11 in) and 66 g (2.3 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
