About this specimen
Yunnan quartz with epidote at 4.5 cm and 22 g; a miniature. A cluster of small grey quartz crystals with dark epidote and orange flecks, the epidote quartz the supplier names, the crystals complete as the supplier notes.
Epidote's deep pistachio to olive green and striated prism faces separate it from prehnite.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
By size it is miniature, 4.5 × 2.7 × 2.5 cm (1.77 × 1.06 × 0.98 in) and 22 g (0.8 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
