About this specimen

One broad triangular face fills the front of this Guizhou fluorite, and it is a single octahedron rather than a group of cubes. The margins are frosted white and faintly sugary to the eye; inside them a dusky mauve triangle sits centred on the face, its edges running parallel to the outer ones, so the crystal appears to carry a smaller ghost of itself. A pale frosted shelf continues off to the right.

Which faces a fluorite chooses depends largely on how fast it grew: cube faces dominate when growth is quick, octahedral faces when it is slow and steady, and the triangular outline here is the slow answer. Colour follows the same schedule, deepening or fading as the fluid changes, which is how a violet core ends up wrapped in a colourless rind. Fluorite is Mohs 4 with perfect octahedral cleavage — those clean edges bruise if knocked.

5.3 × 3.6 × 2.5 cm and 50 g, resting on the clear acrylic block it is photographed on, which is included. No stand-in was photographed: this is the crystal you will unwrap.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
