About this specimen
A single frosted fluorite crystal the size of a plum sits enthroned on this Guizhou specimen, its rounded, bevelled form glowing the palest lavender-grey — a color like dawn mist that shifts with the light between silver, lilac and ice. Beneath it spreads a full pedestal of blocky cream dolomite, with a second, smaller fluorite tucked near the base.
Guizhou is one of China’s quieter fluorite provinces, and its soft-toned crystals look nothing like the saturated purples of Hunan — which is precisely their charm. The frosted faces diffuse light instead of reflecting it, so the crystal appears self-lit from any angle, no lamp required.
The specimen measures approximately 12.2 × 9.1 × 4.3 cm and weighs about 480 g, and it stands on the acrylic base shown. Every photograph is of this exact piece.
