About this specimen
Sichuan garden quartz at 6.6 cm and 87 g; a small cabinet piece, priced with the tip disclosed. A plate of green epidote with clear quartz points standing on it and peach-stained matrix, the garden quartz the supplier names; the supplier notes a slightly damaged quartz tip.
The inclusions in garden quartz are frozen mid-growth, which is why every crystal reads as a small, unrepeatable scene.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 6.6 × 5.3 × 4 cm (2.60 × 2.09 × 1.57 in) and 87 g (3.1 oz). Disclosed condition: a slightly damaged quartz tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
