About this specimen
Golden pyrite faces sit between pale quartz crystals on a darker garnet-bearing matrix. Several quartz forms have broad flat-looking ends, with shorter points filling the spaces around them. A large reflective pyrite face projects near one side of the center. The close view reveals the different angles at which the pale crystals meet the metallic growth, showing a broad shallow association with contrasting face shapes across its upper surface. Dimensions: 3.7 × 1.9 × 2.5 cm / 37 × 19 × 25 mm / 1.46 × 0.75 × 0.98 inch. Estimated weight: 20 g / 0.71 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
