About this specimen
Yunnan hemimorphite at 3.5 cm; a miniature, supplied on the acrylic stand shown. A turquoise-blue hemimorphite crust covers the piece in tightly packed botryoidal knobs, with a cream-coloured patch at one side where the crust thins and the matrix shows through.
Hemimorphite's hallmark is sprays of transparent to sky-blue blades radiating from a common base.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
The piece is miniature in size, 3.5 × 3.3 × 2.2 cm (1.38 × 1.30 × 0.87 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
