About this specimen
Yunnan hemimorphite at 3.9 cm; a miniature. A pale mint-green hemimorphite crust lines the open face of a brown rock, the botryoidal growth thickest where the cavity is deepest and thinning to a film at the rim.
Hemimorphite's hallmark is sprays of transparent to sky-blue blades radiating from a common base.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 3.9 × 2.8 × 2.7 cm (1.54 × 1.10 × 1.06 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
