About this specimen
Yunnan hemimorphite at 7.7 cm; a small cabinet piece. A dark, deeply pitted rock is lined through its open cells with pale blue-green hemimorphite, the mineral showing wherever the cavity walls have stayed intact.
Hemimorphite's hallmark is sprays of transparent to sky-blue blades radiating from a common base.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
By size it is small cabinet, 7.7 × 3.8 × 1.6 cm (3.03 × 1.50 × 0.63 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
