About this specimen
Xuebaoding, Sichuan, scheelite at 4.4 cm and 102 g; a miniature gem crystal with a contact base. A stout honey-orange scheelite crystal with glassy faces; the supplier notes a mining-contact base.
Scheelite forms pseudo-octahedral bipyramids in Chinese tungsten deposits and fluoresces blue-white under short-wave UV.
The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 4.4 × 3.5 × 3.8 cm (1.73 × 1.38 × 1.50 in) and 102 g (3.6 oz). Disclosed condition: a mining-contact base. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
