About this specimen
Xuebaoding, Sichuan, scheelite at 2.8 cm and 71 g; a miniature, priced with the tip disclosed. A honey-yellow scheelite crystal with a small pale fluorite at its base; the supplier notes a slightly damaged tip.
Scheelite is calcium tungstate, forming orange to honey-coloured bipyramids with a greasy lustre and a bright blue-white fluorescence under short-wave UV.
The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.
By size it is miniature, 2.8 × 2.4 × 2.4 cm (1.10 × 0.94 × 0.94 in) and 71 g (2.5 oz). Disclosed condition: a slightly damaged tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
