About this specimen

The blue does all the work. A patch of ultramarine azurite crystals, individually barely a millimetre across, crowds the top corner of this pale pinkish-grey rock and sets its colour against soft mint-green malachite crusts spreading alongside. Smaller blue flecks run down the left edge and pick out a rusty ochre seam near the base, with a few honey-tinted blades caught among them.

Azurite and malachite are the same copper carbonate chemistry at different water contents, and azurite is the less stable of the two: given time and moisture it converts to malachite, which is why the green so often rims and invades the blue instead of sitting apart from it. Both minerals are Mohs 3.5–4, and at this crystal size a cloth does real damage — dust with air only, and keep the piece out of humid storage.

5.3 × 2.3 × 5.1 cm and 75 g, blocky enough to sit steady on a shelf without a base. The photographs are of this one piece, held in the fingers for scale.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
