About this specimen
This big Madagascar sphere is packed from edge to edge with inclusions. Long, thin blades of green and yellow mica cross one another at every angle, some amber, some olive, some nearly black, so the interior looks like a tangle of reeds or scattered straw caught in clear ice.
Because the quartz around them is clear and transparent, you can look deep into the sphere and see layer after layer of blades, each catching the light differently as you turn it. It is polished and with real heft at this size, and works best on a sturdy stand in a well-lit spot where the inclusions can cast their pattern.
