About this specimen
Olive-gray green calcite forms a rounded upper cluster above a lower stack of flattened plates. The upper surface is densely nodular, while the lower part separates into distinct overlapping layers. A narrow transition connects these two noticeably different textures.
Subdued color is punctuated by small highlights across the fine-grained surface. Its tall, uneven outline comes from the rounded crown and layered lower section rather than a single large crystal.
Locality: Huanggangliang, Inner Mongolia, China. Weight: 10 g (0.35 oz). Dimensions: 1.5 × 1 × 1.5 cm (15 × 10 × 15 mm; 0.59 × 0.39 × 0.59 in).
