About this specimen
Yunnan hemimorphite at 6.9 cm; a small cabinet plate. A flat plate covered in pale blue-green hemimorphite, the botryoidal crust rolling in low mounds across the surface with a duller grey-white rim at the break.
Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate that forms fan-shaped sprays of bladed crystals or botryoidal blue crusts; both forms are represented in Chinese and Mexican material.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 6.9 × 4.1 × 1.5 cm (2.72 × 1.61 × 0.59 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
