About this specimen
Broad reflective pyrite faces rise above dark sphalerite in a compact uneven group. Under ordinary lighting, golden and silvery highlights move across the larger planes, with smaller crystals filling the surrounding gaps. A supplied ultraviolet photograph places the same group under a violet cast. The ordinary-light view shows the clearest contrast between the bright pyrite faces and darker base; a specific red fluorescence response is not established by these photographs. Dimensions: 3.3 × 2 × 2.9 cm / 33 × 20 × 29 mm / 1.30 × 0.79 × 1.14 inch. Estimated weight: 22 g / 0.78 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
