About this specimen

This smoky skeletal quartz comes from old-mine Madagascar material, and it looks every bit its age: the crystal is deeply etched into terraces, windows and stepped ridges, with rust-orange iron staining lodged in the crevices. The smoky brown colour is strongest in the upper body and fades to milky, translucent quartz at the base.
Turn it and the glassy etched surfaces flicker, while the skeletal structure lets you peer into layered internal windows. It is natural and. Weighing 3000 g / 105.8 oz, it is a hefty, tactile specimen with plenty of character.
