Jiangxi hematoid quartz with chalcopyrite at 5.1 cm; a small cabinet piece. The supplier did not record a weight. Keep dry.
Hematoid quartz is coloured by hematite inclusions, giving it a warm red-to-orange body colour that intensifies in strong light.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Jiangxi's tungsten mines, Xihuashan and Piaotang among them, are the classic source of wolframite, scheelite, baryte, fluorite and calcite specimens.
