About Pingwu Mine
The Pingwu mining district in Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, encompasses several skarn-pegmatite tungsten and beryllium deposits — most notably scheelite-rich skarns and aquamarine-bearing pegmatites. The district produces some of China’s finest scheelite specimens (sharp orange-fluorescent dipyramids on muscovite-quartz matrix) and gem-grade aquamarine prisms in pegmatite pockets. It complements the existing Xuebaoding entry within the Sichuan tungsten metallogenic province.
Geology & Signature Specimens
Pingwu sits along the eastern margin of the Songpan-Garzê orogen, where Mesozoic granitic intrusions contacted Triassic carbonate and pelitic sediments to form W-bearing skarns and Be-bearing pegmatites. Signature collector specimens are sharp orange-fluorescent scheelite dipyramids on white muscovite, gem-blue aquamarine prisms with smoky-quartz inclusions, and minor schorl-cassiterite-fluorite associations.
