About this specimen
A broad black ilvaite crystal has strong lengthwise ridges and an uneven upper edge. Small pale quartz areas interrupt the dark faces, with hedenbergite also recorded in the source association. The second angle reveals the specimen's thinner side and a light-colored crystal projecting near the middle. Fine grooves continue along much of the black surface, creating a vertically textured appearance that contrasts with the small smooth pale areas and the rough contact material near the top. Dimensions: 5 × 3.5 × 5.5 cm / 50 × 35 × 55 mm / 1.97 × 1.38 × 2.17 inch. Estimated weight: 127 g / 4.48 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
