About this specimen
Morocco vanadinite at 3.3 cm; a miniature, supplied on the acrylic stand shown. Deep red vanadinite crystals build up into a branching, wing-like group, the hexagonal plates stacked edge on edge so the whole piece opens out from a narrow base.
Flat hexagonal crystals and a rich red-brown colour are what Morocco is famous for in vanadinite; wash hands after handling.
Morocco's Mibladen and Touissit districts are the classic source of vanadinite, cerussite and baryte, mined from lead deposits in the High Atlas.
By size it is miniature, 3.3 × 2.2 × 1.3 cm (1.30 × 0.87 × 0.51 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Contains lead-bearing minerals: wash hands after handling and keep away from children and pets.
