About this specimen
Cream-colored calcite spheres dot the gray interior of a broad basalt cavity. Larger rounded forms sit apart from one another, with much smaller pale spots filling parts of the space between them. A darker rough rim surrounds the smoother interior and makes the light growth stand out. The second photograph looks more directly into the hollow, revealing its shallow bowl-like depth and the scattered arrangement of the calcite rather than a continuous crystal coating.
