About this specimen
Yunnan veszelyite at 1.5 cm; a thumbnail, supplied in the display box shown. A blue veszelyite crust is cut across by a pale vein of rock, the two running diagonally so the blue sits in two wedges on either side of the line.
Veszelyite crystals show a saturated greenish-blue that few copper minerals match, and good Chinese specimens have made the species collectable worldwide.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
By size it is thumbnail, 1.5 × 1.4 × 0.8 cm (0.59 × 0.55 × 0.31 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
