About this specimen
Yunnan veszelyite at 2.6 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Veszelyite in a deep electric blue crusts across the face of a pale rock, the small crystals catching a glassy sparkle and the blue reading almost ink-dark where the growth is thickest.
Veszelyite crystals show a saturated greenish-blue that few copper minerals match, and good Chinese specimens have made the species collectable worldwide.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 2.6 × 2.5 × 1.5 cm (1.02 × 0.98 × 0.59 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
