About this specimen
Two materials in one object. The face is cut from deep green fluorite, translucent enough that the outlines of the original cubes ghost through the brow and the shadowed eye socket, and the teeth are incised as a neat squared row along the jaw. The back and one full flank were deliberately left untouched: sugary white quartz matrix, freckled with rust-orange iron staining, breaking away in stepped natural surfaces.
The join between the two is the interesting part, because it shows the real relationship in the rock — fluorite crystallising into a quartz-lined pocket, the green mass sitting directly against the granular white wall. Carving into that contact rather than trimming it away keeps the geology legible. Fluorite is Mohs 4 and quartz 7, which is why the two zones take such different finishes.
The piece is 9.1 cm front to back, 6.1 cm wide and 7.6 cm tall, at 907 g. It stands square on the matrix without help and was photographed on black glass; no display base is supplied. What is pictured is what will be packed and sent.
