About this specimen

Inner Mongolia phantom fluorite at 6 cm and 51 g; a small cabinet piece with a three-colour mix.

Fluorite crystallises in the cubic system and is prized for its saturated colour, glassy lustre and the way zoned phantoms appear when the crystals are back-lit.

The Huanggangliang skarn district of Inner Mongolia is one of the great mineral finds of the 21st century, known for fluorite, calcite, garnet and rare species.

Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 6 × 5 × 1.5 cm (2.36 × 1.97 × 0.59 in) and 51 g (1.8 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
