About this specimen
Dozens of small, sharp fluorite octahedra in rich grape purple sit across a plate of white quartz, with a darker purple cluster at the centre and lighter, more translucent ones toward the edges. The contrast between the purple crystals and the bright white matrix is crisp.
Pink-to-purple octahedral fluorite on quartz from Zhejiang is a less common Chinese fluorite type than the Fujian cubes; this is a cabinet-size plate with crystals intact across the face.
