About this specimen
Purple-red source-recorded manganoan adamite forms short prismatic crystals across a curved brown matrix from Mexico. Several upright points rise above smaller pale mineral contacts, with deep burgundy color concentrated near the crystal heads and rust tones continuing through the host rock. The low crescent-shaped specimen displays well from both sides. Two views show the prismatic relief, 39 mm length, and unusual arsenate mineral color. Dimensions: 3.9 × 2.1 × 2.4 cm / 39 × 21 × 24 mm / 1.54 × 0.83 × 0.94 inch. Estimated weight: 20 g / 0.71 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
