About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, scheelite with mica at 4.9 cm and 114 g; a miniature with real weight, priced with the damage disclosed. A large honey-yellow scheelite crystal with a tan mica rosette on one corner and glassy faces; the supplier notes a damaged edge.

Scheelite is calcium tungstate, forming orange to honey-coloured bipyramids with a greasy lustre and a bright blue-white fluorescence under short-wave UV.

Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.

The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.

The piece is miniature in size, 4.9 × 3.9 × 3.3 cm (1.93 × 1.54 × 1.30 in) and 114 g (4.0 oz). Disclosed condition: a damaged edge. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. Condition is otherwise as photographed.

Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
