About this specimen
This is a big, old-stock clear quartz crystal that wears the marks of time. The body carries a light smoky tint, and its shape is unusual: a broad, flat-faced main crystal topped with a crust of orange-brown natural material and small attached crystals. At the tip it encloses phantoms and crystal-in-crystal growths, seen best in the close-up.
The prism faces show horizontal striations and a few healed internal lines, and the base has rust-coloured staining where it once joined the matrix. It is shown standing on a light wooden stand. A heavy, one-of-a-kind specimen with real history.
