About this specimen

Pale straw-green fluorite cubes run across the front of this plate, and inside them dark specks lie strewn like pepper in glass — the pattern that earns this material its leopard nickname. Above the fluorite, white calcite crystals rise in flattened arrowheads, chalky and opaque against the transparent cubes, the whole group built on a chocolate-brown matrix.

Xianghualing yields fluorite in exactly this restrained yellow-green, with calcite arriving later in the sequence and perching on top of the cubes; the order of growth is legible right on the specimen. Both species are soft — fluorite at Mohs 4 with octahedral cleavage, calcite at Mohs 3 with three cleavage directions and a real sensitivity to acids, vinegar fumes included. Dust it with a soft brush rather than a cloth.

7.6 × 2.5 × 5.1 cm, 105 g, held in the brass wire cradle on a clear acrylic base. Pictures were shot from this piece on the stand shown, which ships with it.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
