About this specimen

The face of this Guizhou plate really does read like a scanned code. Fluorite cubes meet edge to edge across a ten-centimetre span, each one a stepped stack of square growth plates, and the colour lands unevenly — ink-violet blocks beside pale lilac ones, with frosted near-white crystals crowding the upper right and pale tan matrix showing along the base.

That mosaic is a record of how the crystals grew. Each new layer of CaF2 spread across the face stopping slightly short of the one below, leaving a terrace, and because the purple rode in with some of those layers and not the next, the terraces alternate between ink-dark and water-clear. The result is chequerwork rather than one flat sheet of purple.

It measures 10.2 × 6.4 × 3.8 cm and weighs 280 g, an easy one-hand display piece shown here without a stand. You are buying the plate in the photographs, not a lookalike from the same pocket.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
