About this specimen

Two plates travel together here, and side by side they read as two moods of one pocket. On the left, violet fluorite cubes push up through a biscuit-coloured crust of tiny crystals, the deepest almost inky where colour zones overlap along an edge. On the right the same cubes arrive pale — grey-lavender, glassier, stacked in shallow steps — over a chalky white seam flecked with rust-orange.

Yaogangxian in Hunan is one of the classic Chinese sources for fluorite of this character: sharp cubes, purple that shifts with the angle of the light, and a habit of building in layered steps. CaF2 is soft for a display mineral at Mohs 4, with perfect octahedral cleavage, so lift each plate by its matrix. Some Yaogangxian material fluoresces under ultraviolet light; the species is unpredictable that way, so treat any glow as a bonus rather than a promise.

The set weighs 20 g in total, each piece listed at approximately 5.1 cm. Both sit on putty on one clear acrylic cube in the images, which were taken of the two specimens you will receive.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
